## Cameron Winter - Live at Carnegie Hall

I've been looking forward to this one for a while and it did not disappoint. This is a live album by [Geese](https://geesebandnyc.bandcamp.com/?ref=musicblog.james.land) frontman Cameron Winter, recorded at Carnegie Hall in New York City earlier this year.

When Geese's [3D Country](https://geesebandnyc.bandcamp.com/album/3d-country?ref=musicblog.james.land) came out and started causing a buzz in 2023, it took a few listens for Cameron's voice to grow on me, but since then I've been obsessed.

I've caught Geese live a few times since them, and I'd love to see a solo Cameron show next, but until then this live album will keep me satisfied.

## Jake Xerxes Fussel - The Old Beloved Path

This is the latest album from folk singer-songwriter Jake Xerxes Fussel. I love Jake's singing, guitar playing, and songwriting on this.

I found Jake via KEXP with his [2019 studio session](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeiboW%5FQc58&ref=musicblog.james.land). His performance of *Have You Ever Seen Peaches Growing on a Sweet Potato Vine?* really hooked me, but the album version on his 2017 album [What in the Natural World](https://jakexerxesfussell.bandcamp.com/album/what-in-the-natural-world?ref=musicblog.james.land) didn't hit the same with the extra production and instrumentation.

In my search for more live recordings, I came across [this video of a 2023 performance in LA with Blake Mills](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mdp57ZmxnSk&ref=musicblog.james.land). Blake Mills is my favorite guitarist so I was excited to see that they've played together. Unfortunately it's not a great recording, but it's better than nothing. I'd love to see them play together live someday.

## Jackie Evans & Vulfmon - Introducing Jackie Evans

This collection of live studio recordings from Jackie Evans is one of my favorite Vulf-adjacent releases in recent years.

This video of the studio sessions is really worth a watch. The songs are even more enjoyable knowing and seeing that she's playing these funky piano parts while singing on the recordings.

Jack Stratton's drums and production and Joe Dart's bass really fill these out sonically. Because of that, I was initially disappointed at Vulfpeck's recent show in Berkeley when I saw that she'd be performing solo for most of her opening set, but I was wrong to doubt her. I ended up enjoying her solo songs more than the one that she brought Jack and Joe out for!
